There are many cooks thats I like to follow, but sometimes their recipes get way ahead of what i’m capable of. Ree Drummond isn’t one the those cooks. I love watching her show, even though we don’t have cable in our new home, I make a point to watch it when I cook at my parents. She always creates things that are simple, and delicious. The first time we have company over for dinner I made her sloppy joe’s and not only was my dutch oven scraped empty, but I had my husband requesting that I make more next time.

I don’t have the desire to wait around for a loaf of bread to rise. Will I do that? Sure, but the motivation has to be there, along with a distraction. The Bread that Ree makes had my mouth watering from the first photo. I am a carbs girl and this is perfect for me and my family. It’s always nice to have a slice of french bread, or any bread, with a meal. Soup, Salad, Pasta, Meats. It goes with anything. I have made this bread many times, and will make it many more.

It’s only two ingredients: A loaf of french bread and 2 sticks of butter. Literally, that is all.

Here are the directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Spread one stick of softened butter on each half of the loaf.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until butter is melted and starting to soak into the bread.

Crank on broiler and broil bread for 3 to 5 minutes, watching the whole time. Remove when butter has started to brown and blacken. Don’t under-broil it! The flavor really kicks in when the butter’s color changes.

I’ll be honest, I burnt part of the bread on purpose. It was worth it. 🙂
